Grains are slightly lower overnight with corn down ¾ cent and soybeans down 2 cents here at the A.M. open. The major reason is as simple as a slow news day yesterday and into the overnight. Soybeans have continued their slow trend upward, beginning one week ago, that has added 10 cents to both the January and March. There’s continued optimism surrounding the U.S. and China coming to some form of agreement, although the initial written offer from China leaves a long way to go. News is quiet for the entirety of ag including the corn market. Snow is in the forecast again today and much of the Midwest had some snowfall yesterday as well. Up to 8 inches is expected today in North Dakota.
To date, the USDA reports to have paid nearly $840 million to farmers as part of the aid package.
Have a great weekend!
