Opening calls:

Corn –1 to 2

Beans steady to +2

Overnight trade shows corn down a little and beans up a little. Really no major news to focus on. About the only thing consistently mentioned is the lack of field work and another weather system moving into the Midwest tomorrow and over the weekend. Everyone realizes April 11th has come and gone, and as soon as conditions are even close to OK, most areas will see a flurry of field work. It feels like the traders are still of the mindset that “it’s not too late” and “we know how much can get done in a short window”. With the size of equipment today and previous experience to draw on, no one is pushing the panic button yet. We’ll see what another week to 10 days brings.

This is probably as good a time as any to throw out another reminder about firm offers. As you head to the field and become completely focused on your own field work, let us know if there is a specific level you want to/need to get sold if we hit it. Then put in the offer and let the process work.  If we don’t get there, we can always re-assess post planting.
