Corn +1 to 2
Beans +5 to 7
Friday, the March corn contract closed 1 higher at $3.52 ½. December futures were 3/4 higher at $3.85 3/4. For the week, March was up 6 1/4 and December was up 5 1/4. We’re getting quite a few offers entered and several are being filled. We’d encourage you to let us know what your price targets are for Old Crop, New Crop, and even into New Crop of 2019. The best way to take advantage of a “carrying charge” market is to sell into the later delivery time slots.
For soybeans, the March contract closed 4 1/4 higher Friday, at $9.77 1/4, and November was 1 3/4 higher at $9.96. For the week, March closed 16 3/4 better and November gained 12 1/2. Same as for corn, we’d encourage you to let us know your pricing targets. We may be able to reach some of those with some creative marketing alternatives.
Keep in mind, that with the Federal Government in “shut down” mode, some of the normal USDA reports will be delayed.
This Friday, 1/26, is the deadline for eligible high school seniors to apply for a $2,000 scholarship opportunity through Landus Cooperative. More details and application found here.
