Opening Calls:

Corn steady to +1

Beans +5 to +6

Rain, rain, go away... after months of hoping for some decent rains, I think we’ve had enough for now.

Corn is struggling to find some firm footing as other parts of the country are in active harvest mode and early yields appear to be slightly better than expected. There will be some government reports issued later today. These were delayed due to the federal Columbus Day holiday. We’ll see the USDA’s report on harvest progress as well as Export Inspections.

Beans are getting a little boost from continued dryness in Brazil. Harvest progress is expected to be in the mid 40% area across the U.S. We’ll see what USDA says later today. Later this week, we’ll see if they make any adjustments to the planted acres and/or yield expectations. That will be on Thursday the 12th.
