Corn -5 to -6
Beans -8 to -10
The corn market withheld a great deal of fund selling yesterday to close mixed. The trade is “evening up” ahead of the WASDE report that comes out this morning. Additionally, corn was pressured yesterday by the U.S. dollar trading above the highs it made in March. It is rumored that China is in the market for new crop corn and ethanol margins continue to be relatively strong. This will keep demand for corn high.
Soybeans closed up yesterday after starting the day down as much as 16 cents on the nearby. This was mainly due to weather concerns as the extended forecast remains dryer than normal for the majority of the Corn Belt. Beans were down overnight due to more uncertainty about the weather forecast and fund positioning before the WASDE report this morning at 11 a.m.
