Corn: steady to down 1
Soybeans: down 5 to 7
On Thursday, May corn futures closed 2 lower but firming nearby basis kept the cash bid steady. Note: new crop corn basis has been stagnant. Will the March 31 USDA reports change that? Soybeans lost almost 9 on May futures but a slightly better nearby basis indicates 8 lower on the cash bids. Fundamentals are negative with little change and South American conditions remain good for crop development and harvest progress.
It’s not too late to get to the Women in Ag event at ISU. Provided you can arrive at the Scheman Building before 9AM, you can still register at the door. There are a lot of good speakers lined up with some great information available for your farming operation.
Our final speaker in our month long series will be Jake Moline of INTL FC Stone. This presentation will be in Clear Lake on Wednesday, March 29th. NOTE: that is 2 days before the big USDA report date, and Jake will have some thoughts and comments to share regarding this. Beginning with registration at 10 AM, and program at 10:30, to be followed by lunch from Butcher’s Steak House. We hope to see you there. To RSVP, contact your local Landus Cooperative location or call us at 877-778-2226.
