The weekly export sales report was out this morning and sales made last week were solid for corn (which is a bit surprising because on paper, US corn in not competitive in world markets). This moved corn prices from a shade lower to a
shade higher. So… not a huge deal. Soybeans traded higher last night and the only story you can find involves this Brazilian trucker strike. Yesterday’s talks provided little progress and as a result the independent truckers in Brazil have declared a new
strike beginning today.
Weather… it was another cool morning across the corn belt, with freezing temps cooling the ground. 4” soil temps have dropped from the mid 50’s to the upper 40’s across Iowa (map below). Warm temps are on the way as the extended forecasts
call for more seasonal temperatures.
Opening Calls
Corn steady/higher
Soybeans 3 to 5 cents higher
Have a great day!
