The markets haven’t traded since 1:15pm on Wednesday (there was no overnight session last night) so opening calls are somewhat scattered. The general calls I am seeing all involve synonyms of the word “mixed”. Gives me the impression that nobody really knows what our markets will look like when they open this morning at 8:30. If I had to guess… the markets were all weaker Wednesday and while we may see a quick bounce to start things off this bearish tone could continue today as growing conditions in South America remain great while other news is limited. With a large percentage of the trade out of the office today, look for light volume and choppiness all around.
Outside markets… Crude oil is slightly higher, the $US mixed and the DOW is called a higher.
Weather… US forecasts are starting to turn colder as temps are expected to drop to below normal starting around the first of the year. Like I mentioned above, South American weather still looks fine as rain showers are moving into Argentina with no sign of a blocking ridge of dry weather on the horizon.
Have a great day!
