It is a very quiet news day today – the $US is lower while the grains (and most other commodities) are higher.  Most of the idle chit-chat between traders is centering around the severe weather and heavy moisture that has plagued parts of the NW corn belt.  While the 5-day forecast calls for additional rainfall for those areas (that don’t need it), the 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks (maps below) show normal to below-normal precip which will be welcomed.  This short-term weather story (while interesting to talk about) isn’t expected to have a major effect on futures prices.  Overall crop conditions still look great across the US.

Opening Calls

Corn 2 to 3 cents higher

Soybeans 3 to 7 cents higher

Have a great day!
