AGRONOMY
FC’s Agronomy Department is structured to separate sales and marketing, accounting, and operations. The agronomy sales and marketing organization at FC, which includes the Seed and Precision Agronomy areas, is overseen by PJ Peter, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Tom Miller, Vice President of Operations for Grain and Agronomy, is responsible for the operations side of FC’s Agronomy Department. The accounting side of the department is managed FC’s Corporate Controller, Warren LaRue.
Accounting
The Agronomy Department employs two full-time Agronomy Product Accountants who handle all agronomy accounting duties. These duties include: preparing monthly financial reports, tracking inventory control, balancing departmental balance sheets, and assisting with budgeting, capital expenditures, and allocations.
In FC’s Agronomy Department also has a Seed Accountant. The Seed Accountant is responsible for all accounting duties associated with Seed. These duties include: tracking and reporting trait fees, assist with P&L, inventory audits and prepayments of seed, processing of seed payables, and more.
Agronomy Operations
Directly reporting to the VP of Operations are the Regional Operations Managers (ROMs). The ROMs are responsible for grain and agronomy operations in their respective regions. The ROM position is responsible for managing each FC location in a region through the Location Managers. Location Managers oversee employees at each location.
At the location level, agronomy operations employees include Agronomy Plant Managers and other agronomy personnel, Floater Operators, and Tender Truck Drivers. The plant personnel are responsible for managing inventories and getting our agronomy products out to our customers’ fields.
Floater Operators take that product and apply it to the customers’ fields by spraying and spreading. As our agronomy business continues to grow, FC is always in need of good, qualified Floater Operators!
Agronomy Sales
Directly reporting to the VP of Sales and Marketing are the Regional Sales Managers (RSMs). The RSMs are responsible for our agronomy salespeople in their respective regions. At FC, our agronomy salespeople are called Field Sales Agronomists (FSAs).
FSAs are trained to do more than just sell agricultural chemicals, fertilizer, and seed; they are trained to be agronomic experts and offer solutions and recommendations to our members. With the rapidly changing nature of technologies in agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, and seed genetics, this is a very important service that FC offers!
Precision Agronomy
FC’s Precision Ag area is headed up by the Precision Ag Product Manager and supported by Precision Ag Technicians. This department is responsible for identifying and selecting new technologies, products, and systems in the precision agronomy industry. The department also markets the technologies, products, and systems to producers and conducts necessary training.
Seed
FC has its own brand of seed beans and also is a dealer for other brands of seed beans and seed corn. FC’s Seed Department is managed by the Seed Business Director. This position is responsible for genetic selection, vendor/supplier relations, production/processing activities, and training/coaching for the FSAs.
